Aspen Equities is an accomplished real estate investment and development firm focused on opportunities in the New York area and across the Northeast. Founded in 2005, Aspen has demonstrated an ability to profitably complete complex real estate investment and development projects in today’s challenging economic environment. Aspen is adept at managing the development process from site acquisition and design through construction, marketing, and sales or lease-up. The firm is also an experienced operator of income-producing property, with a focus in the multifamily, mixed use, and retail sectors.
Seth A. Brown is a seasoned real estate investor and entrepreneur dedicated to improving America’s cities.
As founder and principal of Aspen Equities, he focuses on commercial acquisitions and green residential and commercial development for the company, with a particular focus on Brooklyn. Most recently, Seth managed the development of The Lawrence. Prior to founding Aspen, Seth worked at the Lefrak Organization and The Hudson Companies Inc.
In addition to his real estate work, Seth is a fellow of the Urban Design Forum and co-founded Next City, a not-for-profit media organization that promotes socially and environmentally sustainable economic growth in America’s cities. The organization has grown from a volunteer-led startup into an organization with national impact.
Seth was born in Toronto and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Yale College, where he studied history, and later received an MBA from the Yale School of Management, where he concentrated in finance.

Aspen Equities was awarded the inaugural Evelyn and Everett Ortner Preservation Award, in the Excellence in New Construction category, for Aspen’s 319 Fourth Street project. The award is given by the Park Slope Civic Council in honor of Evelyn and Everett Ortner, who played a critical role in helping revitalize Park Slope.
